Realise Product design was started in 1998 by Retief Vorster as a consulting industrial design company, which at that time mainly designed and manufactured furniture.
Retief realised that plastics were a growing industry and branched out, specialising in small and medium sized products and more specifically electronic enclosures and protective housings. It was soon evident that there was a great need to provide a more comprehensive service to customers and he started facilitating and monitoring quality in the supply chain. This ensured that the customer would receive quality stock on time.
In 2009, Retief expanded his services to include the sourcing, testing and supply of quality tooling for customers. Having control over the tooling ensured better manufacturing results. Both local and foreign tooling suppliers were selected and appointed as toolmakers for his customers.
Later on, due to problems with unreliable suppliers, with questionable ethics and quality standards, he decided that it would be beneficial for all if he could supply the products as well. It was therefore decided to embark on developing a local manufacturing capability to ensure customers that their products would be of an acceptable quality standard.
With the help of a professional Industrial Engineer a modern manufacturing facility was established. Comprehensive management and quality assurance systems were put in place to ensure a high quality product could be delivered on time.
